Renowned Author and Cyber Expert Perry Carpenter Joins Forge Institute Board of Advisors

Perry Carpenter provides a “well-versed perspective” on cyber threats

Forge Institute, a leader in cyber workforce development and other cyberdefense related services, today named celebrated author, speaker and cybersecurity expert Perry Carpenter to its Advisory Board, whose membership includes cybersecurity, data science and infosec professionals from the private and public sectors.

“Perry’s thought-leadership is a major influence to the cyber community,” said Lee Watson, Chairman & CEO of Forge Institute. “His addition to our Board of Advisors provides yet another well-versed perspective on the threats our nation faces day in, day out.”

Perry Carpenter is an internationally recognized thought leader in the area of security awareness, security behavior management practices, and social engineering. He is author of the recently published, “The Security Culture Playbook: An Executive Guide To Reducing Risk and Developing Your Human Defense Layer.” He also serves as  Chief Evangelist & Strategy Officer for KnowBe4, the world's largest integrated platform for security awareness training combined with simulated phishing attacks.

Mr. Carpenter’s approach to cybersecurity is multidimensional, which fits well with Forge Institute's comprehensive approach. “When we think about security, we have to think about several different layers,” explained Carpenter. “Technology is certainly one piece of the puzzle that can involve multiple layers. Beyond those physical layers, though, we also have the human element. The minute you start paying attention to security at a human level, you will start seeing results.”

The Forge Institute Advisory Board has become a powerful repository of cyber intelligence, which has recently added Eric Wall (CISO University of Arkansas System), Matt Bunch (Sr. Director of IT Information Security/Cyber at Tyson Foods) and Dr. Elizabeth Parker  (Sr. Director - Principal Data Scientist at Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield) to its ranks.

“I’m honored to be among such brilliant thought-leaders in data security,” said Mr. Carpenter.

Mr. Carpenter holds a Master of Science in Information Assurance (MSIA) from Norwich University in Vermont. Prior to taking on his role at KnowBe4, Perry led security awareness, security culture management, and anti-phishing behavior management research at Gartner Research. Mr. Carpenter has also held security and tech roles for Walmart, JB Hunt, Alltel, and FIS.
