Rose Schmalz

Rose Schmalz spent five years as a cyber transport technician in the U.S. Air Force prior to joining Forge Institute as a Fellow. The majority of her IT experience involved maintaining the base network infrastructure and providing Tier 1 & 2 helpdesk support as well as administration of classified information systems. During this time, she has earned her MS, Cyber Security and Information Assurance as well several certifications, including Security+, Linux+, CEH and CISSP. Forge Institute allowed Rose to participate in cybersecurity activities outside of the military setting and, as a member of the Arkansas Cyber Defense Center, was able to provide input towards public awareness training. In addition, she was able to network and collaborate with many individuals with diverse backgrounds and gain a better understanding of the direction her new position as a Junior Security Engineer will take her. After finishing her Fellowship, she will relocate to the Netherlands with her family, husband (Alexander) and daughter (Liliana). She looks forward to remaining in touch with those she has met during the Fellowship and is interested in seeing Forge grow.
